CHEF MAT’S ALL PURPOSE BBQ RUB

As Summer kicks off, many of you may be heading to the grill as part of your cooking at home routine. With that in mind, we wanted to share Chef Mat’s All Purpose BBQ Rub recipe to help add important flavors to your BBQ cooking endeavors!

The beauty of something that is “all purpose,” is that it can be used to enhance flavor on just about any protein (ribs, steak, pork, chicken, fish, etc). This is the BBQ rub that Chef Mat uses in our classes, as well as on our prepared foods!

This rub pairs well with your favorite vinegar-based BBQ sauce on the finished product. Happy cooking, we hope you enjoy!

Chef Mat’s All Purpose BBQ Rub Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup  Salt

  • ¼ cup Black Pepper Corns, freshly cracked

  • 2 Tbsp Garlic Powder

  • 2 Tbsp Onion Power

  • 1 Tbsp Cayenne Pepper

  • 1 Tbsp Sugar

  • 1 Tbsp Ancho Chili

  • 1 Tbsp Coriander, ground

Equipment 

  • Bowl

  • Whisk

Directions 

  1. Whisk all ingredients together in a bowl

  2. Rub liberally on the skin of the protein directly before cooking

  3. Grill or roast and enjoy!
